New Beta Search Engine

The newest “search engine” Wolfram Alpha was launched yesterday to mixed reviews.

Whilst the feedback has generally been good, many users complain that it fails on usability and accessibility.

Unlike classic “Search Engines” Wolfram Alpha is a computational knowledge engine that processes queries to return actual answers, rather than a list a web pages which may contain the correct results.

Delay in launch of new Top Level Domains

At it’s annual convention held in Mexico City, ICANN (the organisation responsible for managing and co-ordinating the Domain Name System) announced delays in the launch of the application process for it’s new Top Level Domains (TLDs).

Expected to include suffixes such as .music and .sport, the application process in now expected to begin late 2009 / early 2010.
